I have downloaded the mplayer codecs from:
http://www.mplayerhq.hu/homepage/design7/dload.html
(the essential codec pack)
for linux and want to install it but all I have is a folder with all the codecs. Is there a way to install these? Should I just copy all of them to a folder (which one)?
Thanks.

Try StreamFab Downloader and download from Netflix, Amazon, Youtube! Or Try DVDFab and copy Blu-rays! or rip iTunes movies!

Just found this quick little blurb.
You have to uncompress the contents of the codec pack archive into the directory
<installed path>/mplayer/codecs, mplayer will use it automatically -
I'm booted into XP right now, but the next time I boot into Fedora, I'll check those dirs to be sure.
