I think my dvd writer has died. It goes through the process of writing to a dvd+r but nothing is written, and the properities show that the disk is full. So my question is, I was going to buy a DL writer in the future anyways, but can I still use it to write onto dvdrs? I have about 100 left in my spindle, plus DL media is still so $$.

If you'd rather get the short version:

Can Dual layer writers write to dvdr (single layer dvds)?

ok thanx..I feel like such a newb....do yo need to do anything special to write on a dvdr with DL writers or just the same steps as usual: dvddecrytper dvd2one copytodvd &Only dvddecrypter for DL

Also. so should dvd writers die after 150+ backups? Mine (HP300i) was only like 2 yrs old...

  8. 150, not hardly, should last far longer than that. I did that many burns last month alone. No you don't need to do anything special to burn single layer.

  9. no (nothing special, same as before), and no (they shouldn't die so soon).

Just out of curiosity; what was the media code on those prodiscs? I got at 50 pack of silver inkjet printable from supermedia store about 6weeks ago and they came as MMC's. About half way through the spindle i got about 8 coasteres in a row so i RMA'd the rest. Supermediastore took them back without a problem and sent me back SO3. So far so good with the SO3's....
