VSDC denoise not working

I'm trying to remove some noises in the background noises, such as metal noises, mouse click etc, in VSDC. I've tried using gate effect and median effect, but both of them doesn't work no matter how much I tweak the parameter, including the threshold parameter. I've tried tweaking it from 0 all the way to 1, but I still perceive no obvious changes. Is it supposed to be like this?
I've tried other more common effects, such as reverse and silence, both of them works perfectly fine.
