Thanks, I'm still catching up with NAB. I couldn't spare the time this year.

PS: I hate the marketing bull$t preamble, just tell us what is new?
    That is directed at Sony.

  4. Just like typical Sony...only minor updates, a few new capabilities, and a GUI change to a "more professional" grey color. When are we going to see a whole revamped product, like what Adobe does with their offerings? I don't see any improvements listed for the Titler, or 3D accelerated real-time effects with GPU support. The Titler and the effects are slow as dirt to work with, even on a quad-core system. With today's CPU power, we shouldn't have to be stuck with setting the preview window to "preview" only. It should be able to output 30fps at full-res mode.

Last year they offered the upgrade for $149. If it's not that price or lower, I won't be upgrading this time around. Not enough to warrant an upgrade.

    Agreed.

I just got in a hurry on that one so I could beat you to it.

I decided to miss NAB this year. Business is still good, but in this economy we being more careful on non-billable trips.

    Thanks Ed

If by "whole revamped product like what Adobe does" you mean a complete overhaul of the GUI after every release, then no, thanks. One of Vegas' selling points, to me, is its clean, consistent interface, one that works with the OS instead of wasting time and megabytes inventing "better" ways of doing things. Sure, it means that Vegas isn't a "sexy-looking" app, but I use it to do my work, not entertain me with flash and glitz.

On the other hand, if that's NOT what you meant, then never mind.

Broadcast Engineer had a nice NAB preview this year, I read that. The next issue promises to release more. So far, I've not seen anything I would want or need.

New update price is $249 (boxed with discs) or $235 download. I got an email from Sony offering $50 off until June.

I'll probably get it but I don't see any killer new features like multi-cam last time.

From what I'm hearing the 64-bit version in ver. 9 is very stable. There were a lot of instability complaints with 64-bit in ver. 8.
