  1. Can I have some help please. I'm trying to find out what kind of filter is used in these YouTube videos:

The effect is kind of slightly faded effect. Anybody know? Thanks

  2. Looks like some kind of packaged look from lumetri or similar with film damage overlays.

Would there be a way to get a similar filter on iMovie? I don't have Adobe and I'm not super technically astute.

It's unlikely you have the subtlety in iMovie's color correction tools though you can certainly try. You need to reduce the saturation of certain parts of the color palette while emphasizing others. Trial and error and patience are your best friends.

The film fog/flashes are probably not doable as you really need transfer modes to utilize the proper kind of semi-transparency to incorporate the stock footage effects.

Can you use the software that you linked to before in iMovie? The Magix link for example, doesn't provide actual images or video of each effect and it's pretty expensive to buy it and then it may not have the effect I'm looking for.

  6. The basic faded look can be made with a simple reduction of saturation and a little brightness/contrast adjustment.

Do you think I could get very close to the effect in the videos if I did those things in iMovie?

I don't know anything about iMovie but most video editors have hue/saturation and brightness/contrast filters.

Do you know of any actual tutorials that show how to create a slight faded look?

Just bring down the saturation. Play around with the color correction sliders. You won't do any harm and you may find something you like even better. You can google "imovie color correction tutorials" if you need more hand holding (but you really don't)

edit: too many of those sites want your money. Try this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QJ1nuHW8RFI
