  1. I didn't know you were suppose to only play for 10 seconds, and not rewind the tape. I let the tape play through and then rewound it. Did I really just destroy the head? I just bought this to convert videos and was about to start converting...

    Unlikely to have ruined the heads, but did cause multiple hours of additional wear on the heads and drums because of the abrasive nature of the tape. Been there, done that.

    Worse case scenario is that the tape shedded and clogged the heads. Been there, done that too! *SIGH*

  3. Phew, I was pretty frustrated. I am follow tutorials about alcohol swabbing the heads. After I used the cleaning tape the video got way worse. Should I buy another cleaning tape or follow these alcohol wipe videos?

    It sounds like you've already caused possible permanent damage to the video heads. Try the alcohol and swabs (chamois or foam only, NOT Q-Tips or paper). Keep using a new section of the swab until they're clear of any residue.
