Have been authoring dvds for a long time and never had this problem that I can't solve.
I have an old vhs tape from the 80s. Tape is viewable but want to preseve it on dvd. I use a Canopus ADVC100. Had problems when capturing. WinDV, and CaptureFlux would not capture the audio with the video. Virtuadub captures but sound is out of sync by a few seconds. Stoikcap did capture audio and video. Files were saved in avi. Used DVDStyler to author as I always do. I have found it is faster to create an iso and then burn with Imgburn. After burning the dvd, put it in the Sony dvd player and no video on the clips. Have menus but just sound with each clip in the menu. Tried using a different vcr and no different. Converted the avi to mp4 and still no sound when on a dvd. Can play the avi and mp4 on the computer and also the iso with VLC player. Computer can play everything, but when put on a dvd, no video on the clips, just sound.
When I author using mp4 from a camcorder or point and shoot, everything is fine. Tried capturing from a different vhs tape and it worked fine. I am at a loss. Need ideas to get this old tape on a DVD.
Try StreamFab Downloader and download from Netflix, Amazon, Youtube! Or Try DVDFab and copy Blu-rays! or rip iTunes movies!

The tape was probably recorded in some kind of gimmick machine....quasi/fake S-VHS or Super Duper Long Play or something like that.

Just an idea here. No clue whether it will actually help. Something to try:
Use VirtualDub to convert your Type-1 DV to Type-2 by re-saving both video and audio in Direct Stream Copy. This should be as fast as copying the file on your HDD. https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/desktop/dd407250(v=vs.85).aspx
Confirm whether this new AVI is in sync at start, middle, end with VLC etc.
Convert with DVDStyler, author. Confirm the ISO is in sync in VLC.
Burn and cross your fingers? -
I just did exactly what you suggested. It worked!! Didn't see how to save in type one or type two. Just to save as avi.
Virtualdub version is 1.10.4
I have been trying to get this done for two days already and have run out of ideas.
Thank you Thank you. -
Cool. And yes, VirtualDub doesn't offer the option. It just creates Type-2 always.
