  1. Have seen a lot of postings how good the Sony X1 EXTREME CHIP is for Upscaling.

    A recent video I have found is "UPSCALING: 240P,360P,480P • X1 EXTREME CHIP • WOW!!!" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-UzfK-xCuTc

While the Sony X1 EXTREME CHIP is found in many Sony TVs, I am not interested in upgrading now.

Have checked the info for Sony 4K Upscaling Blu-ray Players but have not been able to find out what chip(s) are used.

Hope some others have been able to get this information.

Also wonder if any other mfrs Blu-ray Players have the X1 EXTREME CHIP?

  3. october262,

Thanks for the info and link!

Do you know how the Mediatek up-scaling chip compares with Sony X1 Extreme?

Did bot G & YT searches but only got their Phone chips.

Also is there number or identification for the Mediatek up-scaling chip?

Last noticed the review for the SONY UBP-X800 UNIVERSAL DISC PLAYER was 07/05/2017 so wonder if anything will be released at CES 2020?

Even if the chip was available in a player, it wouldn't be as good as the one installed on the TV, where it can be tweaked to work closely with the display hardware.

  7. october262 Thanks for all the links! Checked the photos and chip is hidden by a large heatsink. Did quick text search but did not find any model name for this Mediatek chip.
