  1. Can someone help me figure out why some of my dl'd m2ts bdrips fail with the wavi+aften... I'm a newb and all my settings are default except ntsc and I use hcenc 1 pass for most things... I don't know if this is a specific problem w/ my settings or if its isolated to this dl'd rip. Here is the log:

As a side note I have read some online guides for Bdconverts with a2d and followed the instructions to a tee and it wouldn't even pass its channel search or whatever. I changed the settings to hcenc 2 pass and quenc audio and then changed to ntsc... thats all they said to do and it wouldn't do a thing. Please help! I love reading guides but alot of them are just "do this and that" without explanations of things... like is this possibly a bitrate issue? Here is the mediainfo for the input file...

all I can figure is that wavi+aften has size requirements and the above stream size might be too large? for the wav format? I'm a newb so gimme a break.. Maybe I should switch to ffmeg+aften for audio coding? This could end up fixing my only consistent problem with this program... any answers are really appreciated.

  2. I retested the above m2ts and to my surprise even with errors plays audio just fine... I have fed it into mediainfo and it seems to have 6channel and everything. Wavi+aften failed because of the file size and then ffmpeg backup started. During the end of this I received this error : allocation of read buffer. (? don't know what it means) and then at the very end it said that my duration was 0:00 and that it was less than the the input file... which is ALL very weird considering that when done VLC plays the movie fine with no sync problems or anything... this happened to the m2ts file I just did previously also... minus the duration and buffer errors... just the wavi+aften and then ffmpeg was succesful... can anyone help me out with these questions? Would truly appreciate it. This is driving me nuts... heres the new log but I don't see anything about the buffer or the duration included... strange..

Your assumptions are correct (too large wav intermediate file, Aften cannot handle it properly). Switch to QuEnc and retry. Let us know your progresses.

  4. I tried setting just the audio encoder to quenc and then got immediate errors where arguments are usually passed... So I will try to use Quenc 1 pass setting and leave the audio encoder as is with ac3 wavi aften which I'm sure just transfers to another if it fails? right? The weird thing that I don't understand is that the file (for all its errors) still plays fine and seems ok as far as playing on my computer... I haven't burnt it yet so I'm not sure if there will be issues there but I'll continue to chase down these avenues of error until I know a little something... I'm currently converting and will report my findings... as always thank you for your response!

  5. So I have retested again with quenc (locking the bitrate to ensure it starts in quenc) all other options are default.. upon audio encoding received another error and the program aborted itself... however ffmpeg in the log states that ac3 was produced... I did not force an abort it just hung forever and THEN I had to abort manually.. so what I have left are the m2v and ac3 files...here is the new log:

Is there a possibility that the original file is problematic? I have encountered this with more than one m2ts... as stated before most input values seem the same to me however some pass and some fail... should I select the Quenc program and ALSO specify Quenc as the audio decoder?

When exactly did you get errors? Video section, audio section, whatever?

You have only to select QuEnc as AC3 audio encoder, NOT as video encoder.

  7. ok to clear up some confusion... the problems occur after the audio encoding starts... all video encoding seems to be fine.. as the input file is ac3 I've rarely had problems converting my m2ts files.. however about 20% have errors surrounding the audio encoding portion... mostly after wavi+aften fails....

I just set all preferences to default, then I changed my directories, ntsc, and selected and set as default the Quenc audio selection... leaving everything else alone... I get an error immediately at this point during the video process (title 1 standard error which is different because all previous errors are within audio) here is that log:

This is all I can see so I leave it to those more educated...

I do know that I get very strange results at times concerning my m2ts'.... most work great... like I said another m2ts I converted previously completely errored and then resulted in a completely dvd compliant video... I don't understand.
This particular one actually got through by selecting the 1 pass as a locked bitrate and then I let it do its thing... various errors ensued and it never forced me to abort always leaving the option to close and continue a new set of operation (backup ffmpeg) which said it had buffer read allocation errors and then produced a completely working dvd... like I said I don't get it... my source files come from mostly the same source and I see identical input data through mediainfo but still receive errors on some files... I thought it was just the wavi+aften but now I'm wondering if the m2ts format is difficult? Of course I know nothing and hope you can help me..! Your program is completely awesome as I have made a switch from avs4you to avs2dvd... hopefully no one tires of my newb status and works me through! 'preciate it...

  8. It could be related to your AC3 filter mixer configuration (3/0/2+LFE for 5.1 channels audio). If you are using ffdshow (alone) as AC3 decoding filter, AVStoDVD will adjust mixer for you. If not you have to do it manually before encoding.

  9. ok I think we might have something here... I looked into my codec pack (CCCP) and under its ffdshow audio I have it set for 2/0/0 - stereo... is this the problem? I did default installs of CCCP first and then avs2dvd... I went with the flow as I'm newb... should I change this to your suggested 3/0/2+LFE ? I noticed that CCCP has the ability to configure just the ffdshow audio but I don't know what I'm doin in there. So I have selected on its "main settings" menu under ffdshow audio settings to that suggested 3/0/2+lfe and I will retry... I understand you have nothing to do with CCCP but if you have any info concerning these settings making my life easier with avs2dvd it would be great! Thanks for your time man...

  10. It seems that all good things come to those who wait! Re-registering my CCCP settings to include 3/0/2+lfe worked like a charm... so the answer was to select the audio encoder as Quenc and to take care of said 5.1 issue and BAM! Thanks fer all the pointers... this thread can now be closed for me... avs2dvd rocks keep it up.

  11. Well everything is fine and dandy except selecting new ffdshow audio settings in CCCP seems to only last as long as the computer is on. Once rebooted it continues to revert back to 2/0 stereo... does anyone know if this is normal? Am I missing a step? I'd like to skip reinstalling CCCP (so I can initially select the proper 3/0/2+lfe channel) ... I do have stereo speakers attached to the computer so I'm also wondering if watching through MPC or VLC or WMP9 would somehow reset it the 2/0... don't really think so but I'm total newb and wouldn't know.
