    Despite turning up the playback volume, I can not hear the audio track on my AVI film file well. How to fix

    You could demux the audio and run it through an audio editing app like Cool Edit Pro or Soundforge or Goldwave or any other one. They usually have a function to increse volume. Then remux it back in with the video.
