  1. I was playing an mpg I'd copied when I noticed these blocky artifacts in a couple of frames, see attachment.

The artifacts don't appear if I'm just playing the DVD normally. The method I'd used to create the mpg was Main Title Content Copy, which is very quick. I've noticed that with the Full Title Copy method, there is no blockiness. But that method takes ages. Can anyone tell me if there's anything I can do about this, or is there another ripper that'll quickly copy from a DVD without artifacts?

That blockiness looks like the artifacts you would get if you tried to do a simply copy/paste of a protected dvd to your HDD.

The 'Full Title Copy' will most probably be slower since it is removing the protection.

And all rippers work in a similar fashion. Time is a small price to pay.

    Fair enough, thanks.
