    Hi,
I am adding English subtitles to an italian DVD using MaestroSBT and Muxman
As recommended by manono, I made two sets: 16:9 and 4:3. I even increased the font size by one point for the 4:3 set as recommended, although I wonder, why a different size?
It worked fine when I built the DVD in Muxman, with three subtitle lines
Track 1 W 20 LB 20 for the first Italian subtitles
Track 2 W 21 LB 21 for the second italian subtitles
Track 3 W 22 LB 23 for the English subtitles
However, VLC lists four subtitle tracks, including English with normal subtitles and Track 4 with stretched subtitles initially made for a 4:3 screen
I checked with PowerDVD. it lists three tracks correctly
But when I demuxed it I got four SUP files
In 2020, is there still a point doing two separate sets? Especially when the two original subtitles have a single W+LB set, and it's very unlikely that anyone who gets my custom DVD will play it on a 4:3 television set
Or have I done something wrong in building the DVD in Muxman?

TIA for your comments and suggestions

  2. A case can be made that there's no longer any point in creating separate tracks, especially when the others on the DVD don't have them. Just do it like the others.

Thank you manono. I think I will do that, use one single set for Wide and LB. It will be much simpler anyway.
And maybe i shouldn't bother any further but I try to understand

Muxman shows one track with the two sets 22 and 23, so I assumed they would be joined somehow.
Therefore I was surprised when I demuxed it to find two separate SUP files
In you opinion, Is it how it's supposed to be?
