Encore more and more unreliable as Win10 gets updated, "file is open..." ?

I have CS3 and CS6 Encore.

When Win10 first came out, they were doing OK, not many more crashes than is usual.

But slowly as time has gone on, and presumably Win10 has been updated in terms of its security etc, I am getting more and more build fails, specifically, "file is open in another program" errors.

Has anyone got a solution or any comments on this?

There is no Adobe CC Encore so I am really stuck.

If you have both an old Premiere CS6 and Premiere CC license, you can still download Encore CS6 from Adobe. A fresh install might help.
As you know, Adobe has abandoned Encore so it's likely to become unusable eventually.

Create a dual-boot system with Win7 on the other section, Install CS6/Encore onto it. (Or try a VM if you're adventurous!)

Apps of an era that don't get updated should remain with the OS that they best supported.
