QLED vs LED - which one to buy ?

Hi Members,

I've read that QLED is a display technology that uses quantum dots to emit light unlike a regular LED panel.
One of my friends is considering buying a TV and wanted more info on QLED.

Is a QLED

1. Superior display technology than LED ?
2. Failure rate is less than LED(edge/direct) ?
3. Good on the eyes as kids are the major viewers ?
4. What are few of the best QLED TVs available today(Smart too) ?

"QLED" is trademarked by Samsung, so only Samsung TVs may use it. There are a few other brands that make LCD TVs which use quantum dots or quantum rods to enhance their light source light or to filter their light source but they use some other term for their technology.

The latest Samsung QLED TVs are a type of "photo enhanced" LCD TV where quantum dots are used to produce a light source which is almost entirely composed of very precise wavelengths of red, green, and blue. No electro-emissive or photo-emissive QD TVs as decscribed in the above article are currently available for sale.

Because Samsung QLED TVs are LCD TVs, they have inherent problems with viewing angles and black levels like other LCD TVs, but Samsung has tried to reduce their severity in the latest QLED TVs.
