12bit/32khz to Dolby 5.1 ?

I buy Sony HC96E and I want to know what's the difference between these two audio mode :
12bit/32khz 16bit/48khz
I heard "12bit/32khz" can record 4 channel, so can I convert it to Dolby 5.1 ? (with a DSP for converting 4ch to 5.1ch like sony dvd cam ! 403/405/505)
Also Ulead VideoStudio 10 plus supports Dolby 5.1 !




EDIT: And what's the meaning of "non-linear" in "12-bit non-linear, 32 kHz" and "linear" in "16-bit non-linear, 48 kHz" ?

if you have 4 separate microphones hooked up to the cam it might be worth trying 32khz. but since dvd spec is 48khz you are probably better off in that mode. even if you did record in 4 ch. mode you would need a 6 ch. audio editing app. to create the center and lfe.

non-linear would be a different mathematical technique for quantization, could be either logarithmic or adaptive.
