  1. Does anyone know if there is a program that can edit only the sound of say a mpg or avi file without having to re-encode the whole file? Is that even possible? I have found programs that can extract just the sound from a video but i am still in search of one that can import sound back in. any suggestions? -dan

Never used the feature, but TMPGEnc can seperate/join the video/audio for you.

    Have a read here

  3. TMPGenc can do this:

    1) Choose "File | MPEG Tools"
    2) Choose 'simple de-mux'
    3) Load your source MPEG and hit run

This will seperate the MPEG into seperate video (m1v or m2v) and audio (mp2) files. Edit the mp2 file as necessary (normally mp2 -> wav -> edit -> mp2).

To put them back together choose:

    1) "File | MPEG tools"
    2) Simple mux (simple multiplex)
    3) Select your source video and souce audio, name output and hit run
