    i would like to burn the audio track from a vcd to a cd. i have roxio ripping software ver 7.5. can I do this? when i run a directory on the vcd i can only locate a dat file.

    The Dat file is just an MPEG with some headers around it. You can use VCDGear or ISOBuster to extract the MPEG out of the DAT, then you should be able to either demux the MPEG to get the audio, or some programs may accept the MPEG itself and convert to WAV.
