I tried to test the DVD recorder (which is a Phillips DVDR3390), and I tried to convert a VHS tape in a BrokSonic VCR, with the yellow and white wires connected.

The TV plays the VHS just fine, but whenever I try to record what's on the VHS to a blank DVD, it won;t respond. All it does is flash a small red warning label.

I followed the instruction manual on how to set-up the recording, but it still won;t respond.

The tape is probably Macrovision protected, so you wont be able to make a copy of it unless you use a Macrovision remover between the VHS deck and the recorder.
