There is a thread over on /r/DataHoarder on reddit of people trying to build as complete a set as possible as well. As I mentioned there, I have hosting space and would be willing to host as complete a set as we can all build for the preservation of this great show.
I just sent you a PM!

Sorry, I had it written down at my office and posted the original request from home.

    No worries. Here's one:

    http://deabryn.com/PHC/PHC_1996-02-03.wav

I don't have the other one yet, but it should be in the stuff I'm getting from pitweasel.

  4. Greenbryn, I'm curious where you got that above wav
file (1996-02-03). Not from the phc site, I would think.
The files on the phc website were not that large size of
file. I had to abort the download when it exceeded my 600mb of available disk space. Files on phc website never exceeded 120mb, as far as I know. And I never saw wav files, only mp3 and rm.

That's correct, it wasn't from the phc site - I found that file in the 265 GB worth of files I got from another collector. I don't know where he got his files from, although if I remember correctly some of them were recorded from the radio to cassette tape and then digitized. I don't know if this was one of those.

I'll get these to you in a PM later today if you haven't already gotten them. 128kbps rips from the website. Sorry it's hectic here right now and my laptop dying did not help anything.

  7. GreenBryn, pitweasel, or anyone else:
I am interested in downloading any episodes you might have. I was able to download all the episodes from the start of the 2010 season until GK's final show in 2016 before MPR deleted them. I'm willing to share what I have.

Okie Dokie, new update to this thread:

New episodes: Prairie Home Companion has now been renamed to Live From Here. If you're downloading the current shows, starting from 12-23-2017 the URL has changed to: http://167.88.156.221/phc/2017/12/23/lfh_20171223_128.mp3

  10. New episodes: Prairie Home Companion has now been renamed to Live From Here. If you're downloading the current shows, starting from 12-23-2017 the URL has changed to: http://167.88.156.221/phc/2017/12/23/lfh_20171223_128.mp3
Thank you for the useful information.
Put another way, to download the Live From Here radio show, use the following template (notice date is in two places):
    http://167.88.156.221/phc/yyyy/mm/dd/lfh_yyyymmdd_128.mp3
    where
    yyyy is the year
    mm is the month
    dd is the day
So for example, to download the December 23, 2017 show, replace the ymd letters to make this url to download the show:
    http://167.88.156.221/phc/2017/12/23/lfh_20171223_128.mp3

  11. ^^^ great info from both of you, thanks!

Been crazy here between a dead computer and a job where I'm frequently not even home. GreenBryn has been amazing gracious in providing a large cache of files to download; I'm currently working on getting those all downloaded and sorted in the hopes that I can eventually create something reasonably organized.

I have about 52 .mp3 of shows from the 80's or so that I taped onto cassette tape and have converted to .mp3, that I am willing to share. Like the rest of you, I am sick they just yanked the archives. I am interested in downloading as many of the old archives anyone would be willing to share, but not real sure how to do that. Thanks in advance!

Didn't Garrison and his companies have any control of the archives?

Here's a new source of PHC archive files that I'm considering (for those into bittorrent):

That's incredible. I would have never thought so many people would want 82GB of Garrison audio files. He truly is an icon.

JFC. They changed the lfh back to phc for the 12-30-2017 show, and for the Jan 6th show. Not sure if they're going to change it back to lfh again... the lfh link still works for the 12-23-2017 show... so I don't know.

To download the December 30, 2017 show: http://167.88.156.221/phc/2017/12/30/phc_20171230_128.mp3

No, I think the archives were under control of MPR. Once they cut ties with GK, they prob legally had to take the archive down.
