  1. Hello everyone!

I'm trying to capture betacam sp (via s-video) but without success.
    I am using:
_pc Windows 7 ultimate 64 bit service pack 1 | 4Gbs ram | Intel quad core CPU Q9400@2.66GHz 2.66 GHz | ATI Radeon HD 5800 Series | soundmax integrated digital HD audio
_placa capture Pinnacle systems MovieBox DV [Video input and output: s-video, composite | audio input to output: left, right | dv two-port]
    _videocassette player PVW-2600 Betacam sp

What am I doing wrong? Really need to capture.
    Waiting for feedback.

    Best regards!!!

Couple of things you don't mention in your post:
Does your pc have a good firewire port?
How do you know that your supplied "Studio 8" software supports Win7, or 64bit, or 64bitWin7?
or are you attempting to use a different capture software?

    Scott

edit: also, have you correctly set any hardware/firmware switches on the box itself?

IME you can't always transmit the full quality of Beta SP via S-video. Beta SP is a component format, and the S-video chroma sometimes isn't quite good enough. Depends somewhat on the capture device, and a lot on the content (which might have been through a composite workflow anyway!).

    Cheers,
    David.

  5. Thanks for the replies!

Yes, the moviebox can capture with other input, and also with s-vídeo when it's connected to a mini-dv camera.
I am using Adobe Premiere CS5 and trying to capture through it.
I believe it's a good firewire port - always used it, even when capturing, and never had problems with it. I've used the presets from the firmware switches on the box.

Yeah, but WHICH presets? Some are appropriate for NTSC areas, some for PAL areas, etc...

Have you successfully used this combination (MovieboxDV->Firewire PC port(Win7-64bit)->Premiere CS5->DV file) before?

  7. plug the svid out of the player into a tv and make sure that there is quality output. if so try capturing with winDV instead. it's easy and free.
