I used Diamond One Touch Video Capture and its ExGrabber to capture a homemade VSH tape. When I watch the tape on TV (using a VHS player), the sound and video are synced, but after capturing, it is not. It does not seem that there is anything one can do in ExGrabber to prevent this from happening. Am I right?

Can I fix this post-capturing. I have AVStoDVD, but I do not know if that can be used or if some other software is needed.

    Thanks for help.

You captured to MPEG2, 720x480, etc etc etc?

One setup available in EZ Grabber is Setup – Record – Record format, which I have set to "DVD" (at your earlier recommendation).

EZ Grabber Setup – Video – Video Format is set to NTSC_M. In addition to PAL and SECAM (not relevant here), it also has NTSC_M_J and NTSC_433. I am not sure what these settings are.

The 720x480, I do not know how to set.

My TV captures end up out of sync since I upgraded my WinTV software(not your problem though) but my VHS captures are fine.
I open the MPEG file in AviDemux and resync it there....then do the COPY - COPY - MPEG-PS trick and save a new file.....then delete the old one of course.
It's the easiest way I know how to do it....and with no quality loss.

Okay, Hech. I have Avidemux, have some notes as to how to use it (and will read the Help etc.). Thank you very much for your help.

Don't be afraid to use high numbers as sync values in programs. Those are in milliseconds. I start at +150 or -150 and "fine tune" from there.

Okay with high numbers, since the delay of the sound is quite noticeable.

I'll get back when I have either succeeded or gotten stuck.
