    Hi,
My video footage are all in MP4 format directly from the camera. They are in 1920 x 1080 50 fps format.
Is there any video editor that can handle these videos without cracking up and export a good avi file after editing !?
My system is VISA HOME PREMIUM... I've used the following editors...

Adobe Premiere Pro CS3 [Crashes on too many MP4 files... n AVI exporting in 1 word... SUCKS]
    Edius 4 [Doesn't support direct MP4 editing]
ULEAD Video Studio 11 [Again... no MP4 support]
ULEAD Media Studio Pro 8 [My fav... but no mp4 support + doesn't run on VISTA]
Avid Xpress Pro 5.7 [Doesn't run on VISTA]

I just got SONY VEGAS PRO 8... haven't tried that yet though.

    My System spec is...
    Athlon 64 X2 6000 3.0 ghz
    Radeon HD 2600XT 512MB
    500 GB SATA 1 HD
    4.0 GB Ram

Which editor is best for me !?... I like using the Premiere pro cs3 but the damn thing keeps hanging and can only deliver good WMV files.
Isn't there ANY good editor that supports MP4 editing WITHOUT me having to convert it 1st !?

    THanks...

Putting my bias up front, I would use Vegas.

As usual, guns1inger is right. If you have ffdshow on your system, properly configured, you can use Vegas to edit. I was pleasantly surprised to find that Multiquence can handle mp4 editing too. It's all about the DirectShow filters, buddy.

Try the demo Mainconcept MPEG PRO Plug-in for Adobe Premiere Pro
    http://www.mainconcept.com/site/prosumer-products-4/mpeg-pro-hd-3-7850/information-7862.html?L=02231

or the demo Mainconcept MPEG Elements Plug-in for Premiere Elements
    http://www.mainconcept.com/site/prosumer-products-4/mpeg-elements-6875/information-6887.html

Why encode to MPeg4 in the camera when you intend to edit? MPeg4 should be the last step not the first.

    Thanks a lot fellas.
Stiiv bro... could you guide me towards the proper way to configure my ffdshow. I had it installed but didn't help with my PREMIERE CS3 not exporting decent DIVX or XVID clips.

edDV brotha... will try out the plug-ins right now.
The camera in question is the new SONY PMW EX-1 XDCAM... apparently it records stuff in MP4 n I have no idea how to do otherwise.
Checked in the manuel and have found no way to get past that problem.
