Hi everybody,
I've made many DVD so far from many sources and with many tools.
Now, there is something I can't solve :
I need to make a DVD with three HD1 (half D1 resolution 352x480) MPGs and multiple audio AC3 and removable subtitles each.
Tools I've tried : DVD Workshop 2 and Spruce DVD Maestro.
To get the subtitles I've tried rip it from DVD (bitmap) and from .SRT (text).
The problem is the aspect ratio. In the authoring software preview, usually it's looks good, but after the DVD is ready, the subtitles are cutted or in any position.
With full DVD resolution (720x480) everything it's fine.
THANKS for your time and if you already have this problem solved or any suggestion please write to me...

Now I'm triying with DVD-Maestro.
I have 2 installations. In one, I've found that using "Spruce Subtitle file" format from Subtitle Workshop in DVD-Maestro it's working OK.
But in other similar installation (other PC) not
When the problem appear, the right half of the subtitle does show off.
e.g. :
subtitle =
[ Here is my subtitle ]
show =
[ Here is my ]
Please, any help ????? -
Well... I'm still trying ...
Now it's DVD-LAB PRO 1.00 turn ...
This excellent software have the same problem.
The subtitles are not cutted, but double sized and out of screen.
I've imported a .SST file and generate the stream. Look fine on the preview but not in the final DVD.
I'll contact the manufacturer.
Still waiting for suggestions ... THANKS! -
That's what DVD-LAB has to say :
They should not double in size on DVD player, but they will double in size
on PowerDVD, because PowerDVD is not really happy about Half D1 and
subtitles (no matter what authoring you use)

I'm having same problems with dvds made form non-standard resolution DVB recorded mpeg videos. At the moment to obtain the best trade-off between pc-playing and standalone -playing I've tried to stretch down teh subtitle area....(or obviously to resize video )
