  1. when i back up my dvd's using dvd shrink and copy the backed up dvd to a blank dvd they seem to work fine on my dvd player i have in my room which is not an expensive one. So then i tried to play it back on a sony dvd player which i have in my front room and it wouldn't work. Do i have to set it as region free in dvd shrink?

sorry for all question as you can tell im a newbie!!!

    Thanks again

Yes, although it should do that by default. What media are you using (brand) ? Are they + or - R ? What type of disk does your Sony expect ? Have you checked out your model Sony in the Players list (to your left) to see what disks other have trouble or success with ?
What, if anything, does the Sony say when you put the disk in ?

Generally cheap far-east dvd players play everything.
    Expensive brands e.g Sony don't.

  6. Well there you go. Your Sony does not play pal, region free won't work for you. You either need to try patch method or convert to NTSC
