"audio streams have different sampling rates(!!

Audio problems...

I first noticed them when I attempted to join two .avi files with:

1 - avijoiner
2 - AVI MPEG RM WMV Joiner
3 - VirtualDub

Corresponding error messages were as follows:

1:

"Audio Differ (when second .avi was introduced)"

2:

"[filename.avi] and [filename.avi],
The audio streams have different sampling rates (13890.00000 vs.

13796.00000)
which may cause errors while merging! Do you want to continue?"

3:

"VirtualDub has detected an improper VBR audio encoding in the source AVI

file and will rewrite the audio header with standard CBR values during

processing for better compatibility. This may introduce up to 32546 ms of

skew from the video stream. If this is unacceptable, decompress the

*entire* audio stream to an uncompressed WAV file and recompress with a

constant bitrate encoder. (bitrate: 111.1 +_ 13.9 kbps)"


I am guessing the best way to solve the problem with the first two is to do

as VirtualDub has said and:

"decompress the *entire* audio stream to an uncompressed WAV file and

recompress with a constant bitrate encoder. (bitrate: 111.1 +_ 13.9 kbps)"


In the simplest possible terms, how do I do this?

Is there one piece of software that will do it for me?

If so, which is it and how do I use it?

If not, which ones do I need and how do I use them?

Try to use AVIMUXGUI and you won't have that problem!

Ok. I have joined them but something odd has happened.

There is the audio from the second half overlayed onto the first, over the audio of the first.

I am guessing the same has happened in reverse, but it's harder to tell. Using that package, how do I fix the problem?

Sounds like you added two audio streams rather than joining the two as one longer one.

Well as I have not used this application before ( AVIMUXGUI ), I dont know how to navigate it properly. Can you tell me?

Add first part, add second, highlight both then press the create data source button and mux.

There should be only one mp3 stream at the bottom left.

Something else to try is the DSynth AVISynth mod.

I did not get as far as this:

... because I did not need to.

I had always used shift, to join the two items - as you would use to select a range. It was not working, though it could in other applications. So I had been selecting one and that's what caused the overlay of sound, as it layered two sound levels.

Seeing you insist on selecting both reminded me of pressing control to select individual items. That worked however, during the process, two things came up.

I am aware this is straying from audio matters but I must mention them to clear my head:

1 - (default) audio: MPEG 1 Layer 3 (VBR, bad: 1152, delay: 24ms, 139 MByte)
2 - number of subtitles: 0

Re 1:
What does "bad: 1152" mean?
Why is there a "delay: 24ms"?

Re 2:
You can add subtitles? If so, how?

Again, my join is perfect - thanks again - but I would like to get those answered.

AVIMuxGUI can autodetect delays. As for the bad bit, not sure I guess you would need to ask alexnoe.

Subs you can just drag and drop. Same goes for extra audio streams including aac.

I am sure you can, but I have never used it before and I was hoping you or someone would tell me how, with this particular application in mind.
