I think I am missing something.
How do I go about deleting files on a -RW recorded in VR mode and also deleting files on a -RW recorded in VIDEO mode?
I've resorted to formating the disk every time, but I don't think I should have to do it.
I tried erasing the disks on my PC, but then when I put the disks in the JVC, it wants to format them.
Try StreamFab Downloader and download from Netflix, Amazon, Youtube! Or Try DVDFab and copy Blu-rays! or rip iTunes movies!

I think you have to format the disc every time you want to use it on the JVC because it wants to know what kind of disc it has to deal with (video or VR). I may be missing something too though lol.

The JVC must format the disc to use it. "Format" does not mean "blank".

My friend has a stand alone burner and when he finalizes he cannot use the rw unless he gives it to me and I erase with my pc burner using nero.

Is this scenario possible with the JVC? -
when you delete the stuff you recorded on the disc I'm assuming it's still recognized by the JVC, is it not? If so try unfinalizing it (it's in the same setting menu as finalize) and see if it lets you use the disc without reformatting it.

oh well I meant delete the files on the computer. No way to do that on the JVC (as far as I know) unless you reformat.
As for the unfinalize option, I definitely have it. I should add that mine is a DM-R20 (10+ 80GB HDD). Can anybody owing a 10 check if they see unfinalize in their disc setting menu?Sorry, I had to go see about a girl -

Right. I've never used edit->delete on a disc but that should work.
