I have been scratching my head over contradictory info on a subtitle stream or streams for some short videos from a DVD.
My usual tool is handbrake for any of these things and I do not use anything else.
Various troubleshooting tools either report a a subtitle file in sbtl format or don't see anything.
The recoded video files from DVD are in MP4. Various changes to MKV to use toolnix or some such have also failed.
What is the nature of the .sbtl format and how can it be viewed?
Try StreamFab Downloader and download from Netflix, Amazon, Youtube! Or Try DVDFab and copy Blu-rays! or rip iTunes movies!

You could try clever FFmpeg-GUI for extracting this Subtitle.
Load your video, click main, click extract subtitle stream, select the stream and click extract. -
ffmpeg can extract and convert to SRT or SSA.

Thanks. I actually got this to work. Of the 7 short clips I just selected one and the response was "No Subtitle Found. " That may be the final word on it but I am going to check the DVD soon to see what plays on that. I can only test on an ASUS PC DVD player-- no standalone or bluray here.

Here is the MediaInfo. There may be a clue on that.

The subtitle type is TX3G Timed Text. The usual for MP4/M4V/MOV containers.

But they appear to be empty. -
Oh boy.
I admit I do not know how to read the fine points of MediaInfo's beyond bitrate and some simple things.
This confirms my earlier suspicion that these sbtl entries were "ghost subs."
Thanks for pointing out what I missed. I'll make mediainfos for all seven clips to see if they are the same.
