Hello, I have discovered my long-time lost camera Sony Handycam dcr-hc90e. I charged it and tried to record something. When watching recorded cassette footage in the camera the screen is damaged with grey lines and the footage is not flawless. I put another cossette with the footage I made like 15 years ago and tried to watch the footage and it has the same problem. So I assume it should not be a problem that occurs while recording rather when playback. Or may I be wrong? What would you advise me to do?
    Thank you very much!

Possible one of the heads is dirty or broken. I don't know how the image raster is formed in DV in relation to head A and head B, If it is laid as shown in the video sample then possibly one head is not reading the signal. If it plays/records analog tapes try an analog tape and post a sample.

its a common issue. the drum is dirty, just clean it with 100% Alcohol.
Alcohol is much efficient than a clean tape.
