  1. I have never used this machine to record from a VHS player, just a camcorder. I tried 4 times to make a copy of a VHS tape and each time I got nothing after going through the process.. I believe I have it set up correctly.... Would I get a an error code if the recording part of the machine is defective? Or would it do just what it is doing nothing?

Is it a commercial tape? Perhaps macrovision is stopping the recording

  3. Thank you for your interest. It is, but it is a cheap "Video Treasures" VHS tape from 1989. I didnt know anything about macrovision. Have not even heard the term I looked it up I. I understand, I would get either a message telling me this tape cannot be recorded or some level of color streaking, instead of the video. I got neither. I will try and copy a non commercial tape and see what happens. That might tell me whether my DVD recorder is working, or not. But it won't help me make a copy of an old Godzilla movie for my grandson. Thanks again.
