    Hi All,
Before I plunge in, I would like to seek your opinion on the following plan.
Upgrade the existing old system(Asus P5KPL AM/PS, LGA775) for DaVinci Resolve.
    1. Windows 10
    2. Samsung EVO SSD 1TB
    3. 4GM Ram
    4. Core Duo Q9550
    5. Zotac GT1030 gpu

Mainly use for AVI and MTS editing and output to DVD format.
    Here are my questions.
    1. Can the above system handle DaVinci Resolve?
    2. Is the GPU good enough for encoding MPEG2?
Please help comment and feel free to add anything thing that I might have missed.

    Thanks.

  3. You're only working with DVD spec MPEG-2, that guise is really targeted towards people working with UHD AVC and similar formats. Before you spend any money why not download the free version of Resolve and try it with a sample project to see how your system performs.

I have to upgrade the HDD to SSD, a new GPU and maybe 2x2GB DDR2 RAM(hard to find). I need to get a GTX1650 GPU. GT 1030 won't make the cut.
Hard to teach old dog new tricks. The same goes for computer.

I hate to see a good working system goes to waste. So, I order the following for the upgrade.
    1. GTX 1650 Super (can reuse)
    2. Samsung EVO 860 1T SSD (can reuse)
    3. Q9550
    4. 2x2GB DDR2 RAM (Asus P5KPL support max 4GB)

I loaded Windows 10 on the existing setup and it's ran as fast as Windows XP. With the upgrade, it should be faster.

OK... I need to put an end to this thread.
I bought a new GPU and install it with Windows 10.
Bad news. I couldn't get the Nvidia driver to install.
    It's a good think that I never buy item 3 & 4.
