DVD to 3GP Conversion

I have a new Nokia phone (6230) which is capable of playing video files in 3gp format.

usually, i am able to convert files from divx, xvid, mpeg etc using the nokia software supplied to 3gp, but the software does not recognise dvd's.

is there any software that can convert from DVD straight to 3gp (without first converting to divx)?

You can try converting the DVD to an uncompressed AVI file or use the HuffyUV codec which should give just as good quality but give you a file size that is at least half in size.

Shouldn't really loose any quality that way except such AVI files can be HUGE in size. Of course this is just a temp step but still you will need a rather large HDD.

I haven't done this for a while so I might be blowing bubbles out of my ringpiece, but I'm sure DVD2AVI will frameserve a DVD to a "Fake" AVI file which you may be able to use in your Nokia Software.
