  1. Hey Guys,

I have really started to get into backing up my blu collection to a server. Question .. I have backed up using mkv and mp4. I am ripping at 1080p .. I really dont see a quality difference and the MP4s seem to stream to my plex better.

Is there an advantage to mkv that I am unaware of ?

  2. In terms of quality, no.
They are both containers which hold streams: subtitle, audio, video.
MKV is more 'elastic'. The MKV can contain your MP4 for example, plus a host of other things.
It's a file designed for flexibility, to hold and manage a multitude of different formats.
