    Ummm....

    Okay......

    "Crack" it how ?

When I downloaded it, it is a VOB file, not an Mpg.

And MOST players obviously can NOT play it as Mediainfo does not show any information on the file, except it does say something about it being an .EXE file....

Well obviously MPC can NOT play it as i tried it and it would NOT play it.....

And if MediaInfo can not show any info from it, it is either not any type of common media/video file or it is so F'd up it is beyond repair....

It´s clearly an exe-file. You can even change test.vob to test.exe, just to see the included icon.

And no, of course it doesn´t play in mediaplayers.
And no, and I don´t want to check or debug this crap.

MPEG-VCR can play it, it shows 179 frames. No audio though.
Can save it to a normal MPEG.

Is this meant to be some kind of copy protection?

probably a video run through something like "MakeInstantPlayer" - a software that allows you to seamlessly convert videos to self-running executable files by including mplayer and codecs.

This "test.vob" is actually a passworded WinRAR self-extracting executable file, and the "crack" wanted is probably the password for the archive, so the info originally provided for the file is bogus.

Hmmm, really that's not a passworded .RAR, according to both 7-zip and WinRar
    According to ffmpeg though,

    Code:
        Last message repeated 77 times
    [mpeg @ 0216A540] probed stream 2 failed
[mpeg @ 0216A540] Could not find codec parameters (Video: none)
        Last message repeated 1 times
[NULL @ 0226F8C0] start time is not set in estimate_timings_from_pts
    Input #0, mpeg, from 'test.vob':
      Duration: 00:00:07.16, start: 600.000000, bitrate: 8483 kb/s
        Stream #0:0[0x1c7]: Audio: mp1, 48000 Hz, mono, s16, 96 kb/s
Stream #0:1[0x1eb]: Video: none, 90k tbr, 90k tbn
Stream #0:2[0x1e0]: Video: none, 25 tbr, 90k tbn
So I guess that, sooner or later, Kostya @ multimediawiki.cx will break such an amateurish "copy protection"

Don't judge the book by its cover, analyze the video container, it's not diffcult
ps: i used eia608 and you can remove it easily enjoy!

  23. if it is a true .vob file, hex editor must display following hex codes at line zero, i mean at zero address,
    00000000 00 00 01 BA 44 .. .. .. .. .. SO ON .. .. ..
if not, It is not a true VOB.
please drop the idea of running a file through your PC or through media player for security reasons.

The reason I broke the ice coz I LuV Video Help for the reasons more than one,
Hope, readers of this forum must not ending up downloading a Trojan or Back-door.
The pic posted by NoBuddy indicates that it is a executable. not a video.

How about explaining what the point of asking everyone to spend their time on "cracking" this file was?

OP: I broke a file in a non-standard way! I bet you can't break it!

The rest of us: Nope, don't give a crap. Standards exist for a reason.

    >>> I swear this file is NOT Trojan or Back-door, please believe in me!!
Yeah, right. I'll get right on that.

And the old adage of "if it can be played, it can be cracked" still holds...

It seems that for most people, this file could NOT be played. If it can't be played (for anyone), it's WORTHLESS.

For those few where it could be played, a simple screen recording software would have rendered a non-encrypted file, effectively bypassing any "protection" that was meant to be put on the original.

Waste of my time to go any further with this...

Am I missing something here but I do not see any attachment etc. to download or test.

Did the OP remove it when he edited his post since if he did then the whole topic should be binned as it is now as worthless as the attachment probably was.

It was removed (by the OP) after the 1st day. Bad form: bait and switch, if you ask me.
