  1. Just picked up a 50pk from CC & already having problems. The disc say 8x but when going to burn something with Nero I cant even select which speed I wanna burn @. It just shows 4x. Is there any other programs out there that burn _TS files ?

Edit - Just checked the disc out w/Nero InfoTool & the supporting speeds is 4x. Manufactor ID - UME01.

Now the big question is, is this right ? Why will it be labeled @8x but only show it can be burned @4x Could I return the disc ?

Does your dvd burner support 8x speed dvd media? It would be helpful if you filled out your computer specs so members can assist you. Those dvds that you purchased isn't the best quality. Just my 2 cents!

  3. You should have no problem returning em, provided 30 days hasn't passed since your purchase. A few years ago I purchased some bunk Memorex DVD-Rs from CC they gave me no trouble. I would print the Nero test results, just in case you get a hassle.
I wish I could find 4x media without having to order online.

I bought some 8x Nexxtech media in both +R and -R.

The -R wants to burn at 12x, while the +R wants to burn at 16x. I have burned both at those speeds and they have burned fine. Here's the info from DVD Identifier on the discs that I purchased.

When I have problems with media I buy locally to test when
writing my reports for the DVD Media Page (see at left),
is I go in with my reciept, and simply say:

"My burner refuses to burn these discs. When I try to
burn, it tells me MEDIUM ERROR, the disc can not be burned."

Has worked so far in 8 out of 8 times of buying media,
from Office Depot, to Staples, to Circuit City, to Wal-Mart.
Only once did I get a hassle, and it was from another customer
( some old guy) who tried to tell me what I was doing wrong
on a 50 spindle of Phillps Brand DVD-R,
and proceeded to read me his "mantra" of how he burns discs,
using Nero, on Win XP, yadda yadda.

I simply stopped, looked him dead in the eye, and said:
"I use a Macintosh, not a PC, and therefore please
    mind your business."
That shut him up, and I heard no more of his prattle.

the REALLY sad thing is, even though you also return burnt
discs, they usually tape up the spindle, slap a price sticker
on it, and put them back on the sales floor!
I feel sorry for the guy who does buy
the "discounted because it's been opened" spindle of media...
    he's in for a shock!

I was going to post my discovery of these -R disks from CC,
when I found this thread ..oh well.

Yeah, I thought the price was right for me @ $9.99 per 50pk,
compared to tipicle outlet stores of $19 per 25pk.

Cheap means nothing to me, as long as I can make it work in
    my setup.. and I did.

Anyways.. I just started using these today, and my DVD burner,
Optorite DD0201 model seems to love these. But, the caviat is,
the disks are stamped for 8x speeds, but my Nero says they are
4x, but when Nero writes, it bumps down to 2x speeds

To be honest, I don't care. As long at I got a bargin, all is
not lost, and I can live with the minor annoyances.

And although I haven't tested these in my PIO 220-S recorder, I
am totally confident that they will.. wait, is my 220 +R or -R

Still, you gotta laugh, after all, I have two dvd recorders (-r, +r)

And last, these disks are readable inside my Apex AD-1500 player

    oh.. forgot to ask..

Is this a sale item, or regular cheapo price ??

(I want to pick up some more, for when I get Cable hookup, I might be
starting my dvd-recorder archivals again. And I want a plentyful
    stockade of these)

    Thanks guys,
