I was waiting to see if anybody else had a better idea, but since nobody does, you could use something like eac3to. If it can't convert to AC3 for you from DTS-HD 7.1 then try to extract the 5.1 DTS core which is referenced above. Most likely once you have the core file you can then convert that to AC3 without problems, using the PopCorn program above. I've never used that PopCorn program so I'm guessing, but it definitely seems to be having a problem with the 7.1 part of it, the DTS-HD part of it, or both.

Did you have the Arcsoft DTS decoder installed? EAC3To doesn't have the ability to decode DTS-HD on it's own and needs you to find, download and register the old Arcsoft decoder before it can process the higher DTS formats. If you already knew that then don't mind me.

If mkv2ac3 managed to decode the DTS-MA then believe me, you already have it. DTS doesn't want people decoding DTS-HD and we shouldn't really have access to a decoder at all, but someone forgot to protect the early PC decoders properly and plenty of programs will quite happily hack into the Arcsoft dll to get at lossless DTS-MA.
I should think now that you've installed mkv3ac3 that EAC3To will work now too, unless mkv2ac3 managed to work it without registering it.
