I really like this app apart from that it has trouble playing some files.

I prefer its simplicity compared to VLC, MPC, Potsplayer , WMP etc

Is there any way to fix the codec error. ? It can mkv, but some mkv it cant I tried a registry fix but did not help

Yeah, read that thread before posting. Recommendations were players mentioned. None of them have the ease and simplicity of Movies and TV. Even Windows Media Center which I can hack install W10 lacks the feature of going to the next video

The skip buttons do not work with WMC remote. I guess I could customize taskbar but I hate no 30 sec skip ahead and back by default

Do MPC-HC and BE share the same codecs ? BE is having trouble playing the same files I have trouble playing in Movies&TV but HC can play them fine

  8. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Media_Player_Classic
MPC-BE is a fork of MPC-HC (which is a fork of MPC again), it has a different UI and a couple of improvements.
They're basically the same programs with customized UI.

Media Player Classic - Black Edition (MPC-BE) is a fork of MPC-HC. It moved away from MPC's aim to mimic the look and feel of Windows Media Player with updated player controls and provides additional features on top of MPC-HC such as Seekbar Previews.

As far as codecs are concerned, you can use the internal filters or externalcodecs like LAV FILTERS.
