I'm trying out some different settings for encoding 264, however, I'm unclear as to whether or not I should use Trellis.
    What are some recommendations/suggestions?
Trellis for I, IP, Auto, Off, etc.

Other settings are basically defaults and I usually use a Constant quality between 19-21 for 720p and 1080p material.

    Thanx in advance.

Read over the trellis(vidcoder) and it will tell you it gives you 3-5% more compression at the cost of some speed, always on means it will be use in encoding and analysis modes, encode only means it used during the encode mode.
    I think,therefore i am a hamster.

According to what I read in the Wikipedia article about Trellis quantization, it is supposed to find the optimum. So if I were interested in quality as good as possible, in the given limits of bitrate, I would use it.
