  1. Geeks.com has them for 31.99 for a 25 pack. http://www.geeks.com/details.asp?invtid=DVD-PLUS-R-8X

My instinct is to assume they are probably not a good choice but I figure others might know better.

    Des,

I haven't tried those disks, but it's not a bet I would be willing to take. Since you can get the Verbatim at OfficeMax (store or website) for $14.99 for 10 disks, it's only 17% more for disks that you can be 100% sure of. Put another way, if only 4 of the 25 Matrix become coasters, it would be cheaper (per useable disk) to have just used the known-to-be-good media that initially costs more per disk.

Other determining (but non-monetary) factors in choosing Verbatim DL over anything else might include the lack of stress induced headaches. elimination of the sense of impending doom, and the ability to sleep well at night.

  4. The price for an unknown brand at $31.99/25 pieces vs Micro Center's price for Verbatim at $27.99/20 pieces is $1.28 vs $1.40.

Even in Canada that's not a good price. The last sale on Verbatim DL 20 packs at Future Shop was $29.99 Canadian. I made sure I got a 30 day rain check for those when they ran out.

Best Buy price matched Micro Center on these. I don't like Best Buy, but I work 2 blocks from one. If you have a Micro Center in your area, they should match it. Just print their ad. Today is the last day at this price. http://www.microcenter.com/specials/index.html

That's the one thing I don't like about the new VB setup, you can't see the original thread creation date.

Sorry, I meant before you click on the thread.
The old forum showed the original post date for a thread along with the subject of the thread
Then it showed the last post date and poster on the right
