  1. just got some stacks of some authentic TYGO2 and it came with a notice on top:

    "CAUTION: New standard 8x speed DVD-R
    THIS PRODUCT NOT SUITABLE FOR USE WITH DVD-R/RW DRIVES WHICH DO NOT COMPLY WITH THE NEW DVD-R SPECIFICATIONS FOR 8X WRITING SPEED. PLEASE CHECK YOU R DVD-R/RW DRIVE BEFORE USING THIS PRODUCT. ANY USE WITH SUCH NON-COMPLYING DRIVES MAY RESULT IN LOSS OF DATA AND/OR MALFUNCTION AND DAMAGES TO THE DRIVES.

    ok, I want to use these disks in an older Mac with a superdrive. will it do harm?

  2. Isn't the superdrive a Pioneer drive? A firmware upgrade for the drive may be required but other than that it should be OK.

    I have one on a PC and it burns 8x disks fine (but not at 8x ). Make sure you have the latest official firmware from the pioneer or maybe Apple site.
