Just imagine getting the disk scratched, how much data area would you loose just where it is scrathed.

i dont think you have to worry about them being scratched. If these discs actually go out im sure they will have the TDK armor surface just like the upcoming blu-ray discs are gonna be.

  3. I already find that the average DVD player will pause between layer switches. I find it irritating when it is not done right during movies. Now I can look forward to that happening 2 more times..... no thanks.l

By the time MODS hits the market, HVDs might be entrenched.
    HVDs were just a hoax

  5. I also can't see using common methods how you'd make that burnable at home easily. DVD/CD burners simply make a portion of the disk transparent or opaque. I suppose in the case of this it would need a substance that could have varying levels of opacity. I bet blanks would be pricey!

Yep. I saw that. It happens all the time in my line of work .....engineers or scientists are assigned a student intern to mentor, and kype the poor kid's ideas and put their name on it to further their own careers :P

My previous manager did that with one of my formal reports. I wasn't an intern, but I did about a year's worth of work on it ...countless revisions. When I left his group, he took my drafts, did some minor wordsmithing, and published it with only his name on it. Nowhere in the report did I get credit for any of the work. Needless to say, he's not my favorite person here

Let's hope this wasn't the case, and the student gets due credit for his work.
Edison used to do that. He was mainly a business man. That's why I'm a Nikola Tesla fan. He was one of Edison's pleebs until he got wise to what was going on and left. Edison tried to destroy him after that. We almost could have had everything running on Direct Current, if it weren't for Tesla being such a badass.
Your miserable life is not worth the reversal of a Custer decision.

And, what would Red Alert have been, without Tesla coils?
