  1. hi,

    been burning vcds and svcds of home movies for play on dvd (apex 660) downstairs.....

    is it possible to play on my computer that i am making them on? i have 2 HP cdrws 8250 and 9510 ...

    i have downloaded cinmasomething....bs player and vci? somthing.. they will play my VCD but not my SVCD

    can anyone help?

    i create my svcds as follows
    1. capture via dazzle
    2. encode from mpg1 to mpg2 using tempgen
    3. burn using nero

    The only free SVCD player (that I know of) is STHSVCD. WinDVD and PowerDVD also plays SVCD.

    I use WinDVD (v2.3) for playing VCD and SVCD discs.

    As far as I know PowerDVD does not play SVCD, only VCD.
    That is one of the reasons that I prefer WinDVD over PowerDVD.

    You can try ELECARD MPEG2 PLAYER (Mpeg1 and Mpeg2 decoding).
    Dowload it on http://moonlight.co.il
    or http://www.elecard.com. It's a shareware, but no time expires.
    SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS:
    o MMX-enhanced CPU (Intel Pentium MMX, Pentium II,
    Celeron, Pentium III, AMD K6-2, K6-3, Athlon, etc.)
    o Windows 95/98/NT/2000 with DirectShow or Microsoft
    Internet Explorer 4.0+ installed
    o 32 MB RAM
    o Any VGA card
    o 100 KB of free disk space for filter file.
