    I'm not sure what software or DVD recorder is used. Here are the files. VTS_01_X.VOBs are identical to VTS_02_X.VOBs when viewed with VLC.

    Are you sure that they are 100% identical throughout ? Same audio track ?
    As for why (if really they are identical), since you don't know the origin, and since noone here has a connected crystal ball, I guess that the answer is blowing in the wind (which might be a bit NSFW now that I think of it).
