I convinced my family (as in my mother and aunt and grandmother) to buy me a 51" 16x9 CRT Rear Projection HDTV.

Even at 33 it pays to be the only child LOL

  8. For Christmas this year...
The waterpump on my car went out.
The belt tensioner on my wife's car broke and took out the waterpump in the process.
    My son's car died.
    My LCD monitor died.
    The dog got sick.

But hey, I got four DVDs I wanted, so it's all good.

I got what I wanted, because I bought it myself. I got a new Digital SLR. I actually got it a month early......... but what the heck, it gave time to break it in for Christmas.

    Same here

And they got to see my eyes light up when I stepped on the sharp little parts in my bare feet
IS IT SUPPOSED TO SMOKE LIKE THAT?

  13. It's all real. $679.52 for my car, $1097.58 for my wifes, $250 for my son's car (although he paid for that), using old CRT monitor.

But the dog/s feeling better now.

Yes, it bites when you can't do your own work on your car. Your probably looking at a total of about $120 for parts. It's the labor that kills. I've allways done my own work on all my and my family's vehicals. It can be a royal pain to replace the water pump, especially on FWD with the motor sideways and little room.

Man alive! I wish I was your mechanic!

The last tensioner pully that I lost put like six holes in the radiator ($225 in parts I am thinking) The kick in the pants is that it had been screaming for attention for a week before it went.

Another thing that kills me is I have the tools and know how but not the time or ambition. Lazyness is expensieve!

    So is ignorance.

Of course there was more than just the water pumps. There was timing belts and camseals, head gaskets, and all that other "while it's in here" stuff. But nothing's leaking anymore.

Got everything I wanted watching my children as well. Although I'd be lying if I said that my new digital camcorder didn't rock!

Yep, my wife used to say i enjoyed X-Mas more than the kids because i always was the one buying for them and getting them the cool stuff i wish they had when i was a kid!!!

Well, usually it's seeing my kids opening their stuff, but this past summer the last one is gone so that's over now...
As they are not little anymore and freak about all the cool stuff i always spoiled them with.... ahhh... to be 10 again
And what i got is not on the list and.... i can't say here

I got a new capture card from my brother. But my favorite gifts came from my kids. They have been watching me make videos for different people, so they made one for me. The set a photo montage to music that said "Thank you, Daddy, for being my dad", then they ended it by saying "Merry Christmas, Dad. We just wanted to take the time to say thanks for being such a good dad." Then my daughter surprise me by playing a very complicated arrangement of one of my favorite hymns on the piano. (She is only 12 and plays well beyond her years.) (Please pass the tissues.)

Nice ... what brand and model ...

My wife gave me a George Foreman cooking grill with removable grill plates to put in the dishwasher.

I did get a bunch of cool stuff ... ... for instance ... on Dec 23rd ... onliine at Best Buy ... 20 percent off ... I bought the ... Pioneer-840W 7.1-Ch. THX-Certified A/V Home Theater Receiver-VSX-1015TX ... and then went to the store 25 minutes away and picked it up ... cool ... I saved quite a bit doing it that way ...

I also bought two Dell Inspiron 2200 laptops and one of them Walmart Black Friday HP laptops for my daughter and my 2 grandkids.

138 people 'Don't do Christmas' but no-one has told us why.

Is it for religious reasons(like me)? Or is it in a 'John Grisham's Skipping Christmas'-ey type way?

Religion is a taboo subject around here, like politics and/or war. Perhaps that might explain it ?
    If in doubt, Google it.

Fair enough. I didn't want to start anything religous, I was just intrigued.
