When I load a video into VirtualDub, the right side has about 200 pixels chopped off, and it stetches the remaining ~500 pixels to 720(x480).

    - If I click on another program, it magically shows as properly sized.
    - If I click off of VirtualDub, onto the desktop, instead of another program, then VirtualDub vanishes. No crash, no close -- just gone.

I've never seen anything like this before.

  2. I remember some issue related with impossibility to create a window larger than desktop, but forgot the details. See option "Display->Disable accelerated display when inactive", maybe it is what does magical fix.

It's an ATI driver issue, overlay is wonky.
I've been in overlay hell for weeks now, with an unusually stubborn capture system.

I had to fully disable overlay on the preview in VirtualDub, and all is now well. (Not that it really did anything anyway.)
