Can anyone reccomend something more up to date that could replace a program like Soft Encode of AC3 Tools Pro? I need a program that can seperate the tracks in a 5.1 ac3 surround sound file and rip the center audio from it. I'm making acapella's from DVDs and seperating the actors dialog from the background music and noise that usually comes with it.

What are good, more modern, programs to do this?

I do something similar with FFDshow and Audacity.
I use the Mixer to control the volume of each individual channel, while I record whatever's being played with Audacity.

And finally, I will encode them to mp3s for my own listening pleasure.

The separation into individual mono tracks from the extracted AC3 can be done from command line pretty easily.

Put in same folder as the AC3, then double click on the .BAT file to run
    ac3_split.zip
