    Hi,
I found a post regarding the Sharp DV-HR300 posted 14 years ago BUT
the attached service manual looks just like my Japanese BD-HDS4
Am in Jopan and don't speak Japanese very well and Sharp basically said "sorry, you opened it yourself"

    Here's the issue
popped in a disk, it wouldn't load,
    - turnip off,
    -stuck on "power off" message
    - so pulled the plug
    - THEN flashing RED power light light only
    NEED HDD data
    help, please

    Sharp Blu-Ray recorder
    BD-HDS43

power light started flashing red and would not reboot
We NEEd our data from the hard disk; old wedding videos, kids, etc ( you ge the picture, but we don't, haha)
    - I bought another same model on a Japanese austion and in perfect working condition
-I switched the HDD but the "new" player won't recognize our "old" HDD
-when I put the HDD back in the auction bought player, it flashed red and then booted up after 5 minutes with its original HDD back in place

Is my HDD shot, or is there something I have to do to make the auction bought player read our original HDD
they are the exact same model

any advice would be greatly appreciated
