    Hello,

I purchased an LG RH387H (DVD recorder with hard drive) on ebay.

    I have Dish Network.

When I hook it up, I keep getting a black and white picture, scramble.

    I have...
pushed the 'pause' button for 5 seconds without a disc in the machine.
tried every input, every output (AV/Component & HDMI)

There is no PAL/NTSC switch on the back of the machine that I can see.
I have a PAL/NTSC converter coming from Amazon
    https://www.amazon.com/MX-100-Converter-Composite-Connection-Conversion/dp/B0095FN03U/...ntsc+converter

The seller said it's a United States, NTSC unit and was tested.
The rear of the machine says it's a 'region 3'.

I keep searching for a solution...now I'm turning to you guys.

Any help you or solutions you can give me GREATLY appreciated.
    Thanks...I'll hang up and listen.

the PAL / NTSC switch should be in the rear of the recorder - https://www.lg.com/hk_en/support/support-product/lg-RH387H.
do you have the DVD recorder hooked up to the TV or through your Dish Network receiver ??
also try changing the channel on the dvd recorder or pressing the input button on the dvd players remote

If it does NOT have a SCART connection on the back, then it is NOT a PAL machine/issue.

According to LG, there is supposed to be a PAL/NTSC switch on the back....there isn't one, at least not obvious to me.
So, I would know what the PAL/NTSC switch should look like, I've even searched for picture of one....I can't even find a pic of the PAL/NTSC switch
There isn't a SCART connection either.

I have the DVD recorder hooked up to a Dish Joey.
Dish Joey output, the traditional RCA yellow/red/white....*Input to the LG RH387H yellow/red/white...output to the TV; I have tried AV yellow/red/white, HDMI, and red/blue/green component with red/white audio.

*I have also tried the front inputs.

I have a Magnanox DVD recorder hooked up to a Joey without any problems.

That's one thing I didn't mention...I did try different picture resolutions.
    I have found manuals online.

I didn't know if there was a button or combination of buttons to push.
The LG website says to push and hold the 'pause ' button with no disc for 5 seconds...I've tried that to no avail

can you get in the settings of your player ??
some players have the PAL / NTSC setting
in the on screen set up of the player.
if the PAL / NTSC aren't there then you
may want to see about getting a refund.
have you tried playing a region 1 DVD ?
