    anyone know how to take audio from an mpeg and save as an mp3?

    didn't think it would be this easy (never tried before...)

    If you have TMPGEnc, open it and "Simple De-Multiplex" from the "MPEG Tools" menu option. I just loaded a mpeg, delted out the Video Output and changed the Audio Output to an MP3 extension. It created an MP3 that Winamp says is 224K...

    worth a try...

    That would be mp2 with an mp3 extension. lame for example can decode mp2 though.
    eg. lame.exe -V 2 --vbr-new input.mp2 output.mp3

    virtualdubmpeg2 or virtualdubmod with Lame should be ble to do this

  5. VDM would be the way to go
    Stream List -> right click 'Direct Stream Copy'
    Save as WAV/MP3

    If you use Direct Stream Copy you won't get mp3 output unless that was what it already was. If it is mp2 or PCM then you will have to use Full Processing Mode and set a format and level of compression. Then save wav
