  1. This clip has this motor boating sound (like dadadadadadadadadada). Very annoying. This seems to be common in a lot film transfers I've had done over the years.

What tool would you use to remove it or at least mask it? I've tried noise reduction and others.

I just purchased iZotope RX 6 which is supposed to be great for things like this but don't really know how to describe my problem to find a particular tutorial to use it.

Can anyone on here help me out with this?

    Thanks!

  3. Audacity noise reduction works pretty well, did you say you tried it?

Could be combined with a noise gate if needed.

EDIT changed noise reduction amount to 24dB.
It kills the ambient sound pretty well too, unfortunately.

It sounds like it is coming off an optical film soundtrack and the noise is sprocket noise. Any of the above suggestions should be able to fix it. http://duc.avid.com/showthread.php?t=360138

  5. Yeah, Audacity removes it pretty well. Find a sample without the wind howl in the background to train the filter. That way you won't lose the wind in that shot.
