I got a PSX second hand a few years ago for cheap to basically play the Final Fantasy series. Some of the best money I'd ever spent in terms of cost per hour of enjoyment.
Remember, it's the GAMES that count, not the console itself!

XBOX and a gameboy, genesis, game gear, snes, nes, gameboy advance and a turbografx emmulator on my ipaq 3970 - over 900 games on a 256mb sd card.

NES, SNES, Gameboy advance sp, N64, PS1, PS2, Gamecube, and Dreamcast.
Dreamcast was the only impulse buy. The rest I didn't buy until a year or 2 after release.
